Hello MacKID O'side Friends,
Brrrrrr, we are definitely experiencing some cold, chilly weather here in Oceanside! But what about those gorgeous snow capped mountains? My spouse and I were driving down south a few days ago along the beach and I looked over to see Palomar Mountain covered in snow. From beach to mountains, we've definitely got a bit of paradise here.
***UPDATE - San Diego County has issued a winter storm warning for the mountains from Monday, 2/27/23, at 6:00 p.m. to Wednesday, 3/1/23, at 10:00 p.m.***
If you head to the mountains for snow play or winter sports, then prepare for the inclement weather.
Weather aside, March brings lots of fun events and activities our way. This week's highlights:
- Today is Read Across America Day. Many classrooms and libraries have special reading programs to help promote literacy and a foster a love of reading. A fun article is Read Across America: 50 Kids' Books Set in 50 States (my daughter's class is currently reading Island of the Blue Dolphins). As a family we enjoy The Day the Crayons Quit series by Drew Daywalt. What is your family's favorite book?
- The Flower Fields kicks off it's opening day today! This world famous event is an annual event of the annual Ranunculus bloom. I've put in the MacKID O'side calendar some special activities especially for children hosted at the Flower Fields throughout March and April.
- Saturday has a variety of events - there's a little bit of everything including a free Science and Engineering festival at Petco Park.
Community News:
