There is a world-famous event each Spring, located right in our "backyard" to Oceanside. Fields of color will delight your eyes and smells to awaken your senses – it’s the annual blossoming of the Ranunculus buttercups at The Flower Fields of Carlsbad. It's the perfect day trip to connect with nature and spend time together as a family. It's also an opportunity to learn about the diverse horticultural history of North County San Diego. Provided the environmental conditions are adequate, the flowers will last through May 14th.
As a child, I remember driving by the fields and seeing bursts of amazing color. It was very vivid and still a delight to see from the car. My family took me to The Flower Fields for Mother's Day when I was a new parent. Up close these flowers are so beautiful and the scenery can make for wonderful family photos. Our visit is a forever memory.
The Flower Fields has a very active events calendar with a Toddler & Me Story Time Yoga, Kid's Day and multiple days for the Scouts. Plus, there are events for adults too, such as art and food-related activities.
MacKID O'side Tips: Visit on a weekday if possible. You'll have an opportunity to enjoy the flowers with less crowds. Make sure to bring your camera, good walking shoes and water. Discounts are available during the week and for military as well.
